Countdown mania...

So with National Boards down, my Grand Rounds presentation down and only State Boards left, it is suddenly becoming obvious to me that graduation day is right around the corner.

I gave my Grand Rounds Presentation today. It was interesting in that I had managed to get the powerpoint that I had made changes to and was prepared to use up and running on the computer in the conference room. The girl that was going to go after me did the same and the girl after her also did the same. So I got ready to give my presentation and put the powerpoint on presentation mode when the computer decided to freeze. Awesome. The only form of the presentation I could get back up was a copy of the version a gave in October which was significantly changed for the presentation I was giving today. Anyway...I used the old one. I was so flustered! And generally I am crazy nervous in front of my class as it is...Oh but at least it is over now and I have to worry no more. I think overall, on the fly, I performed better than I expected I would. And for as flustered as I was...I think I was, in the end, less nervous about it than I might have been had everything gone as expected.

All that is left now is State Board exams in April. They should not be too bad as they are over the Practice Act which, as a veterinarian, I have to know. So...here is to spending a lot of free time studying for that sucker.

Graduation is nearly upon me and I find it so bittersweet to think about. Part of me is more excited than you will ever know...I mean, this is what I have wanted to do my whole life...for as long as I can possibly remember. Suddenly, a goal that seemed so unattainable when I was young is nearly in my hands. With it comes the nervousness that goes along with going from student to Doctor...knowing that you are the one calling the shots and that the balance of a beloved pet's life balances delicately in your hands. And, for the first time in my adult life, I am leaving friends (more like family) that I have grown so amazingly close to and hoping and praying that the bond of friendship can traverse the geographic distance that will take us each to our own dreams and destinies.

As far as graduation goes...EVERYONE IS INVITED! I will post detail here soon...May 3rd though. If you do plan on attending, please let me know so that I can get a head count--there will be a post-hooding ceremony reception held by the vet school and they need a head count in order to have enough refreshments for everyone.

I hope everyone is doing well. Sorry for the lenghty update.
Have a great weekend!

Until next time...Keep the Faith
